Composting of fine fraction after mechanical-biological treatment of municipal solid waste

چکیده

One of most common types municipal solid waste treatment is mechanical-biological (MBT), which in practice has many variations depending on the method conducting technological process and it possible to get different output fractions. In this paper analysed generated after MBT with biodrying, where mechanical undergoes then RDF (recovery derived fuel) separated. Fine fraction remains a high content organic matter that without additional processing cannot be disposed landfill. The aim research was determine possibility fine composting conditions – open, open covered area, indoors. each area are formed three compost piles: 100% (KH1, KH4, KH7), 70% 30% wood chips (KH2, KH5, KH8), 50% (KH3, KH6, KH9). Moisture content, temperature dissolved carbon (DOC) were monitored. Results show 13 weeks samples KH1, KH7 (100% fractions) did not achieve DOC value less than 3 000 mg/l. effective terms reducing achieved KH3, KH9. Based results obtained, can concluded by adding ratio 50:50, fastest reduction samples.

Municipal Solid Waste Composting: Biological Processing

composting process, as one or the other is normally a limiting factor. Carbon serves primarily as an energy source for the microorganisms, while a small fraction of the carbon is incorporated in their cells. Nitrogen is critical for microbial population growth, as it is a constituent of protein which forms over 50 percent of dry bacterial cell mass. If nitrogen is limiting, microbial population...

Composting of municipal solid waste

THE CITY OF COLOMBO , which has a resident population of little over half a million, and a total area of 3731 hectares, is administered by a Municipal Council. The collection and disposal of solid waste generated within the City is a function of the Municipal Council, and is carried out by its six district offices. The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) collects around 500 metric tons of solid was...

Thermochemical Pretreatments of Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste from a Mechanical-Biological Treatment Plant

The organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) usually contains high lignocellulosic and fatty fractions. These fractions are well-known to be a hard biodegradable substrate for biological treatments and its presence involves limitations on the performance of anaerobic processes. To avoid this, thermochemical pretreatments have been applied on the OFMSW coming from a full-scale mechanica...

Aerobic Thermophilic Composting of Municipal Solid Waste

Composting is a natural process that turns organic material into a dark rich substance called compost. Aerobic Composting is the creation of compost that depends on bacteria that thrive in an oxygen rich environment. Aerobic bacteria manage the chemical process by converting the inputs (i.e. air, water and carbon and nitrogen rich materials) into heat, carbon dioxide and ammonium. The ammonium ...

Municipal Solid Waste Composting - a Review

Generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) continues to rise, which leads to loss of resources and increased environmental risks. The conventional treatment of wastes such as open dumping and land filling cause environmental degradation. Since the major fraction of wastes generated in India is organic wastes, composting has emerged as one of the best methods for treatment of wastes. Composting, ...
